A capsize bulk carrier due for her first special survey was being prepared for the dry-docking project by her Technical Managers. Vessel Manager prepared a quotation comparison and proposed the shortlisted Yard for dry-docking with project plan to the vessel owner . Vessel Owner appointed SINOTECH Marine as to review the Ship Manager’s proposal and take up a pre-docking survey of the vessel followed by project management and supervision in shipyard.
SINOTECH Marine appointed a senior Technical Superintendent along with their technical team in the office to support the superintendent and analyse the project outcome with more effective monitoring and controlling in the best interest of shipowner. After a thorough pre-docking vessel inspection conducted by our Superintendent, Our technical team found that Ship Manager tried to offset running maintenance and repair cost by dry-docking budget which should ideally fall under operating cost. Further, we found there were various jobs, coming under category of routine maintenance were unnecessary for the Dry-docking. With efficient monitoring, controlling, and due diligence, Sinotech Team could save about USD 105,000 in the project for the Ship owner, major part of this sum comes from hull & holds treatment, and correct inventory of balanced spare parts at the end of the docking project. Shipowner was benefited tremendously with appointment of SINOTECH for Dry-Docking management as he could save about 10 times of the cost of our service.
